The Caravienne is just to get it a little darker and the Melanoiden will bring way too much malt flavor and also I’m not a fan of the flavor of Melanoiden malt as is anyways
It turned out good, ended up not using any Melanoiden and I’m happy I didn’t use it. I did use just a little bit of caravienne to darken the color a little I don’t have my recipe right now but it was probably 5% of the grist or less. I do 5 gallon batches
Next time I’d go for 17.2 ibu at 70 minutes (start of boil) then 4.8 ibu at 10 min and try out the Hallertau tradition since that’s what’s used, and use WLP838 instead of the 34/70.. carb to 2.6 vol co2
