I am using liquid yeast for the first time for my Belgian Blonde (OG 1.067 @ 5.25g) next weekend. My LHBS had one pack left of WLP550 left, manufactured 2/28/2016. I have used Mr. Malty and various other calculators and get differing results for what size starter I need. According to this one:

http://www.brewunited.com/yeast_calculator.php

I need a 1.5 liter starter. Mr. Malty said a 3 liter starter and 2 packs of yeast, hence my confusion. I had planned to make my starter Wednesday, but if I need to step it up I will start it tomorrow.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? This is also one of those pure pitch containers, fyi.
